The Tourist Port of Etna is inside the Port of Riposto, 6 sea-miles from Taormina and at the base of the volcano Etna. It is reached in 30 minutes from the new International Airport of Catania, Vincenzo Bellini and is in a central position on the Eastern coast of Sicily which makes the Port of Etna an important reference point for pleasure craft owners in the Mediterranean basin.
The geographic vicinity of Taormina highlights the importance of the port in that it allows Tourists who are sailing in the Mediterranean or who arrive in Sicily to moor and visit the famous places and others nearby. The port of Etna is in the town of Riposto at the foot of Etna, historically known for its commercial trade from the second half of the 19th century up until about 1950, confirming it as one of the most important export departure points in Europe. The historical centre of Riposto, situated close to the Port and the Marina, has many commercial businesses and services and a characteristic fish market where you can buy fish freshly caught by the local fishing fleet moored next to the tourist port.
The structure of the port extends for 150 metres from the moorings with over 570 metres of floating mooring pontoons for boats from 8 to 40 metres in length. The control tower gives authorisation for access to the port and is responsible for Reception, Mooring, Departure and Fuel Supplies.
